using a Concert Lead with two 4x12's
« on: August 25, 2009, 08:55:52 pm »
Hey all, need some advice.  I've got a Concert Lead (later version with the black & red logo, I've been told it's 200w at 2 ohms?), and I just got two Sunn 412S cabinets (240w at 4 ohms).  I want to run this as a full stack, but am slightly unsure at how to do it.

There's two outputs on the back of the Concert Lead.... so do I just run each output to each cabinet seperately?  Is this a safe combination?  I just don't wanna toast my head.  Any input from someone who knows about this stuff would be greatly appreciated.

How do you do it? Just run a cord from each output jack, one to each cabinet.

Is this a safe combination? There's some debate on that. While the Concert Lead is rated to 2 ohms, at least one knowledgable person on this site has said that, in his opinion, the Concert series amps do not have enough output devices to run safely and continuously at 2 ohms. I don't think the incerase in power between 4 ohms and 2 ohms makes a significant difference, and wouldn't do it. I'd prefer two 8 ohm cabinets. But, in your case, you already have the two 4 ohm cabinets. Bottom line: your amp, your call.
