can't get my sr 8200 to work
« on: September 13, 2009, 10:36:23 pm »
i got this powered mixer years ago when i was about 15. i didn't have any speakers for it and being young, hooked up whatever i could get my hands on; all at once. i have since, learned my lesson about resistances, series and parallel circuits, etc. my problem is i've replaced a transistor, a resistor, and a triac. but i still can't get it to do anything. two of my resistors get so hot they start to glow... inside their ceramic casing. the resistors are still good, but i have no idea what to look for now. my instincts tell me that it's grounding out somewhere but everything looks fine... i'm ready to trash it, but i really don't want to... it worked great when there wasn't some teenager messing with it.

Hi there,if you've got resistors glowing red, something is shorted and drawing way too much current.I'm surprised a fuse or breaker isn't popping. Not to be an old smart ass,do you know how to use a multi meter and how to check transistors and diodes ? If you don't,it's time to take your amp to a tech before you do more damage to the amp or hurt yourself.Good luck,Mel.
