repair help needed desperately
« on: February 18, 2011, 02:44:14 am »
i'm in east central indiana---about 50 minutes from the ohio border----and i need to find a top flight sunn amp
repairman quickly.
i have currently:
1968 coliseum p.a. head---crackles and farts out badly when hitting low notes.
1968 2000s---sounds good but has a loud hum that gets louder the longer it's on.
1971 sonaro---i'd like to use it as a guitar head but it sounds like a wah pedal stuck in the
middle position all the time.
for cabinets i have 2 of the large, sceptre-type, 4x12's.
one has webers, the other has jensen c12n's---both are 8ohm and sound very nice.
i'm nearing the completion of an album and need to get at least the coliseum and the 2000s running at their maximum best
because their sound is what is needed on the last set of songs to be finished.
i am willing to drive as far as dayton if the quality of the repair work merits it.
your suggestions in this matter are much appreciated.

The Coliseum sounds like it could maybe be cap related. Crossover distortion maybe?

i'm at my wits end with the coliseum.
it's been to the tech that's closest to here way too many times and always
the same crackling, farting-out problem comes right back.
i did manage to get two really good weeks out of it this month---the longest it's
ever functioned correctly in the 4 years i've owned it----and the sound was
just tremendous....but it still doesn't make up for all the other hassles and wasted
effort this thing has cost me.
i will try to get it working one more time---if i can find the right tech to repair it---but if it screws up
after that it's gone.

c'mon, nobody knows a tech who's worth a crap between
new castle, indiana and dayton, ohio?
