« on: March 04, 2006, 08:34:06 am »
Hi there!

Does anybody know where i can get fitting casters for a Sunn 215 cabinet?
Are there any fitting ones from fender? Or does any industrial norm caster fit? Any help is appreciated!

Best Regards

Are you talking about the removable ones on the Fender/Sunn Model 215?

When I got my 2x15(which a very helpful person here informed me that it looked to be a 200s cab) it needed a little love. The original casters were gone and the replacements were thrashed too. A trip to Orchard Supply Hardware and she was rolling again. If your unsure just measure the screw holes from center of hole to the other center of hole on corresponding screw and that should give you a pretty good referance to take with you to the hardware store. You might spend $15 to $25. Good luck! :)

If it is a later day fender/sunn cab maybe they have a special fitting caster as mentioned by Issac(dont know myself on that one) but if it is older then I think my suggestion will get you rolling.

Right, that's the question. The old casters are 2" casters (the only size my local hardware store didn't carry; biger or smaller were fine!). I found out that my Fender-era Model 215 has removable casters when unloading it from my car, and one of them came out in my hand!

So Patrick, tell us what you need, and maybe we can help you find it.

The casters used during this era were 2" faultless brand swivel casters. The original ones were plated in a furniture bronze finish.  I tried to get a set from our original supplier and they were available in only the bright zinc plated finish.  They can be obtained from the John Negus company on Sandy Blvd. in Portland, Oregon.

When I replaced my casters on my early Sunn cabinets I ordered the "Ernie Ball Casters" set and they fit perfectly with the original screw holes.

When I built my Sunn Sentura 2 x 15 clone cabinets I got my casters from Parts-Express.
Go to Parts-express.com.

They're part #262-272. 2" wheel with swivel roller bearings.  Zinc plated.  They're rated at 80# each.  Cost from the latest catalog is $4.72 each.  I used 1/4" x 1" hex bolts and T-nuts to attach them to the cabs.  They work really nice.  They look vdry close to the originals.

I used a set of the Ernie Balls on my 215SH, which didn't have any casters when I bought it; they worked well.

Next time I need some, though, I'll follow Rob's recommendation and try the Parts-Express casters.
