SUNN Solarus Questions Recent Purchase
« on: December 12, 2009, 11:40:15 pm »
I purchased a Sunn Solarus amp recently and I have no experience with the model myself. I have a couple of questions:

2. The amp seems extremely bright. I have been running the treble controls as low as possible. Is that normal? Otherwise this amp has tremendous power.

3. The tremelo and the reverb seem to have limited function. Could be external wiring or?

These are wonderful amps. I remember when the local music store started getting them. We were in awe. We thought they must have 100s of watts output and found out later they started at 50...

Any vintage amp needs a through inspection if it's not sounding right. It would be a good thing to try the amp with a different speaker as well as trying the speakers with a different amp. That will point you in the right direction as far as what need to be repaired or replaced.
