Solarus Filter Caps
« on: December 15, 2009, 12:09:30 pm »
Hello everyone,

just wondering if anyone knows off the top of their head how many and what type of filter caps I'd need to re-cap my Solarus head. I can't find a schematic for a 1970s 6550 equipped model. All the schematics I've found are for the EL34 version, and I don't know how different they might be. Can the SDS Labs capacitor board be used in a Solarus? Does that board replace all the filter caps or just the can cap? Obviously, I'm new to this whole thing. The Solarus is my first real amp, thanks for bearing with me through the learning curve.

Thanks in advance.

Open it up and see how close it is to the schematic.  Don't kill yourself.

I wouldn't waste my money on SDS stuff.  I guess it would depend on what you're trying to replace anyway...

The circuit should be pretty much identical to the Sceptre.

Been looking at the SDS capacitor boards. I'd like to install one, but it seems that the tremolo circuit board inside the amp takes the place where the SDS board would normally mount. Has anyone installed an SDS board in a Solarus?
