Concert Lead repair questions...
« on: June 25, 2009, 11:33:11 am »
hey everyone,

i have a red and black face sunn concert lead that is getting beat all to shit from shows.  the top of the power switch broke off and it's a pain in the ass to turn on.  i was wondering if anyone has ever heard of replacing the plastic switch with a metal switch.  could any old amp fix it guy do this or would i probably need to find a sunn specialist?  also, that same question goes for just a general overhall in cleaning and maintenance on the amp.  can most amp guys do that?  it's not broken (except the switch).  i only ask because i have heard they sometimes need to be sent to a specialist.  thanks for any responses.

Hi there, yes you could replace the sw.with any type that fits out of necessity, you'll probably have to make a plate to make it fit the square hole that's already there in the chassis.Your amp guy should be familiar with vintage solid state amps,if he isn't you might want to look at another tech.Good luck,Mel.

Check this thread:

At the bottom is a picture of the closest replacement that is readily available.

Edit: I'm not sure if the switch will fit in the red and black Concert series. How big is the hole?

I have the same problem with my Concert Lead. How difficult would this repair be to do yourself? I have a beginners skill level with this kind of thing. I've been able to do repairs on my guitars electronics, and built a fuzz pedal from a schematic, but I am out of practice.

That switch will probably be a Carling LS1511 : Take it out and look at it.

Try contacting Carling directly. The LS 1511 looks to still be available.
Here is their website:

Or looks like you can contact one of their distributors:

If you happen to have a WW Grainger in your area, they carry Carling products,,may have one or be able to order one for you.
