Hi, Guys,

I hope you enjoy this peek at a few of my instruments. I'll post the Sunn gear when the restorations are completed.

My Dan Armstrong is a First Edition original, Purchased new in 1969,probably from Miami Music. This is the best bass I've ever played. Run it through a cranked-up 2000S and even a poser sounds like Pappalardi or Bruce.

This is my 1975 Fender Mustang. Paint is color-changing DuPont ChromaLusion Royal Plum, and the pickguard and fasteners are all polished stainless. I love this guitar for 1950's rock & roll -- super clean and twangy, and knocks out Ventures and punchy rhythms like nothing else.

I recently finished building this fretless P-Bass. Hardware is from assorted manufacturers, and the finish is light maple stain with 12 coats of hand-rubbed clear lacquer. This bass plays very well, but nothing can replace my Armstrong, especially through a vintage Sunn rig. I'm currently working on restoring a 200S.

Just to show you that an old guy can retain a sense of humor. I've included this shot with one of my VW-powered kit cars (1952 MG-T, still under construction), one of my eight vintage race karts (1960 Homelite Spitfire w/ dual Homelite KL-100 engines), and one of my original-design RC airplanes (F-14 TAMEcat kitted by The World Models in China).

Thank you all for this amazing Web site. In just a few days, I've already made a few new friends, and even managed to contact Conrad Sundholm for the parts and materials needed to complete my restoration projects. This is a great group, so thanks for having me.

Jeff,  Which MG are you doing?  TC, TD, or TF.  I've been an MG fan for a looog time.  Don't own one now but years ago I owned ( at different times ) a 52 TD, a 65 Midget and a 69 BGT. If you're a collector I have a couple of mint MG books that have been out of print for ages.

(Adults only please - this is graphic!) My Nastycaster is a 1/2-inch original relief carving by David Heffernan, who did the window illustrations on Physical Graffiti, and several album covers for Spyro Gyra, Peter Wolf and others. It's a 1974 Strat, but I much prefer my white 1992 maple neck for sound and feel. I'm told that 1974 was not a particularly good year for Strats - and I agree.

Now all ya need to go with this strat is for your buddy to turn a Gibson Flying "V" into a lovely lady.

It's a '52 TD from the Fiberfab kit. I had my 1976 Bradley (I'm original builder - car has 625 Thousand actual miles!) at a car showa few years ago, and bumped into a guy who had a TD kit for sale. I would never buy anyone else's used kit, but this one was complete and had never been started - not a single hole was drilled or anything else. I gave him a deposit on the spot and picked it up the following weekend.

I told my wife I was buying "car parts," never mentioning that I was buying ALL of them! We cracked a bottle of wine and looked at the pics.

The TD was my favorite car of all time until the E-Type Jaguar was introduced. I had a '71 2+2 for awhile and loved it. The Fiberfab isn't a original, but it's close enough for me, and I kinda like working on VW stuff.

I sent you an e-mail about 200S cabinets. Maybe you can help me figure out the innards. Turns out, thanks to information found on this site, that my 215 enclosure is not a 200S but a probably a Sonic II cab. It has two 15-inch Sunn Transducers and two rolled cardboard ports inside. The baffle goes straight back and is not full-width.

This cab will be great for me because I'm looking for something like a Sonic, Sorado, 100S or similar Sunn to replace my cheesy solid-state Marshall, but I really do need to build a pair of 200S cabs for bass.

Can you help with a rough sketch or anything else?

BTW, I don't need the Flying V. Heffernan was always pretty twisted, and you must have missed the Nastycaster's input jack!

Heffernan is an artistic genius. I just wish the '74 model played better.

Here's my 1992 Strat, my 6-string Armstrong built from original parts (bass body though), and my newly reconditioned 1974/5 Twin Reverb.

The Pedal board has my original Distortion +, and a new Phase 90 repop to replace the one I lent a freind and never saw again. The Vox-Wah is also a repop, and I loved those things back in the day. I'm sure there are better pedals around now, but I'm comfortable with these -- and how much should an old-school bass player care about pedals and guitars anyway? I just finished the pedal board, and it's covered with Sunn Tolex!

Had several Jaguars and a Jazzmaster back in the day. They're great guitars but very heavy on the low end. My Mustang gives me everything I want for clean and twangy '50's and '60's camp.
