1978 Red Knob Concert Lead Head and Cab
« on: May 06, 2010, 03:11:15 pm »
Have a 1978 Concert lead head and 610L cab. The cab is 6 Ohms, but the output on the head doesn't say what it is. If I use a different cab, should I use a 4 or 8 Ohm cab. Does anyone know the Ohm's from the head?  Want to use a smaller cab, say 2x12".  6 Ohm cab's are just not common. Thanks

I believe the red knob concert lead is a minimal of 4 ohms so you would be fine running a six ohm cab. If the amp is going to say what the minimal ohm load is, it would be on the back towards the top right above the speaker outs. hope that helps!!!

Thanks Django,      I'm new to the site and appreciate the info. I'd like to maybe try a 412L cab also.

you can run just about anything as long as you don't go under the 4 ohms. That is what is awesome about solid state amps!

Actually with the redface you can go down to 2 ohms!
The silver has a 4 ohm minimum.
You should take some pictures!

A very knowledgeable person who used to post here said that the number of output devices made it a bad idea to run the Concert amps at 2 ohms, red knobs or not.
