Restored Sunn Stage Lead Combo Amplifier
« on: November 04, 2010, 12:36:59 pm »
Hi, Guys,

Sunnovagunn offered a free Sunn Stage Lead awhile back, and I was the lucky recipient. All it took was zero dollars and a drive to South Jersey, about 30 minutes from my daughter at U-Penn in Philadelphia. Got to spend some time with her, too.

The amp section was in perfect cosmetic condition, but stone-cold dead. The covering and grill were total trash, and there was a section of wood that was badly scraped away on the front of the right-hand side.

Long story short, the head required very little repair to be 100 percent, and the wood work was easily fixed in an hour. New grille, Tolex and corners from Conrad were added, and the amp is now fully functional. It's a 50 watter with two 12-inch Sunn Guitar Transducers, and a perfect combo amp for the basement and smaller venues.

Here are the shots of the completed project.

The grill was originally black, but the more common silver/gray Sunn grille now matches all my other equipment. I also added one of my faux badges, which intentionally do not carry the encircled registration mark to differentiate them from the real thing.

Thank you sunnovagunn. This was a very generous gift, and it's appreciated. It was my center of attention until it was finished.

Love the amp -- THANK YOU!

Warmest regards...
