2 SUNN 412sr (column cabs) ohm question
« on: November 27, 2010, 02:34:23 pm »
I'm trying to make sure I'm hooking this up the correct way..

im going to run each output from my amp into a separate cab.

the cabs are 8ohms, 160watt each (i think, please verify for "SUNN 412sr" )

what would my correct OHM setting be?

8ohm(cab one) +8ohm(cab two)=16? or 8 & 8 =4 ohm load?  :?

2 8ohm cabs equals a 4 ohm total load.
When life gives you lemons, buy amplifiers.

Generally the outputs of an amp are wired in parallel; which means that of you use two cabinets, one in each jack, they are connected to the OT in parallel. Two 8 ohm loads in parallel would be a 4 ohm load, so you would want to use the 4 ohm tap.
This is provided that your Soldano's output jacks are in parallel. I don't know how Soldano outputs are wired, but I would certainly expect them to be parallel. You could contact the builder, or just open it up and look to be positive.
