1x15 cabinets that are 30 inches wide
« on: December 23, 2010, 06:30:05 am »
I am looking for a single 15 cab and want to match it to my 30" wide 350L amplifier.  I know the 2x15 2000s cab is 30 inches wide. are there any single 15" cabs that are in fact 30 inches wide.  I am intersted in either the older black label cabs or even the later version red label.  thanks.  I may also be interested in making one myself if plans are avaialable.  thanks for your time.

I don't know of any factory 30" wide 115 cabs. I believe Soundmasterg built a 115 cab that was 24” x 30” so he could use it on one side under a 200S, and standing on its other side under a 2000S and it wouldn’t hang over and look goofy. If memory serves me he used an E140 and a couple of 5” drivers in it. He may be able to give you some construction advice.
The 30" wide 118V and 118M, 1971-75? are probably as close as you'll get from the factory.  Monsieur Lebeaux just sold a pair of 118V’s a month ago that had been listed here for a very long time http://sunn.ampage.org/sdp/index.php/topic,5392.0.html

You could just build yourself essentially half a 2000s cab.

Pretty close Ed. :) I have a couple 6 inch drivers that have crossovers and function as tweeters. Conrad helped me with the crossovers and the voicing. My cabinet is just as easy to build as a 200S/2000S cabinet, with the design mostly the same. I sloped the bottom/back like an Ampeg SVT style cabinet however, and put casters on there that are even with the bottom of the cabinet, so that with the inset handles on the back, I can rotate it back a bit and roll it to carry it around. Works well and sounds great.
