speakers studs too short in a 1x15 Sunn Sonaro cab?

I couldn't screw the nuts on the studs while trying to install Eminence CB158 in the Sunn 1x15 cabs, the «side folding» of the speakers is too deep so the studs doesn't reach.

Is it possible to change the studs in those cabs for longer ones?

Does any hardware/electronics have this?

Don't they use T nuts? All of my vintage Sunn cabs do, but I don't have a Sonaro 115. You could probably switch it over to T nuts pretty easily, and they are available at any hardware store.

hi, if T nuts are the threaded pins fixed on the front panel, yes they use T nuts, and you screw whatever it's called (I would call it a lock nut) onto those «T nuts». well the T nuts are too short.

So I'll have a look at the hardware store and electronic hardware store to see if they have any of that.

I think we may be talking about different things. These are like the T nuts my Sunn cabs use;

They inset into holes in the baffle (which is what I think you are calling the "front panel"; the board that the speakers attach to is called a baffle, or baffle board), and you can just use whatever length screws you need to mount whatever driver.
Most speaker cabs use these, my B15N uses threaded studs which is what I think you are describing. I prefer the T nuts because I think it makes it much less likely to accidentally poke a hole in the speaker while mounting it.

Ok, so I have threaded studs on my baffle, not t nuts.
Like you say, you have to watch for not stabbing the brand new speakers when mounting them with this kind of fixture.
I think I might try to change the threaded studs with t nuts and a new set of screws so that way I can put whatever speaker with no more stabbing risk.

Ok so I went the hard route and changed the studs for T-nuts on my two Sunn 1x15...lots of work but worth it.

I needed these setup for bass with the CB15 since their the only one I can fit the huge 30" wide Sunn Coliseum Slave head on top.

I now have the 2 baffles put back in nicely and the grill cloth all re-stapled.

Nicely done !  Yep, you (probably) went from a stamped frame speaker to a cast frame speaker, which has significantly thicker metal, and requires a longer screw (or stud in your original configuration). If you have not done so already, I suggest you use a lock washer under the speaker mounting screw, either a split-ring spring washer or a star washer. This will help keep the screw from coming loose under all that vibration. I don't know what size t-nut and screw you used, but I suggest 1/4"-20 (1/4 in dia, 20 threads/inch) for this application (assuming it will fit thru the hole in the speaker basket). If you used #10-24 or #10-32 it will still be fine. Nice work, I appreciate the amount of time and effort it took to do that. Enjoy !!

yeah I went from old Sunn CTS to Emi Big Ben (guitar 15''), both are stamped frame to finally Emi CB15, these are huge bass 15'' cast frame.

I've put some 8-32 T-nuts & Stainless screws, with some #8 washers and copper star lock washers. should stay tight for a long run.
