stupid question concerning slaving an amp
« on: April 18, 2012, 08:06:04 pm »
The only question i have is can i run the preamp out line from a higher wattage head  into the poweramp in line on a lower wattage head? Pretty much a silverface concert lead into an solid state 80 watt fender head.I just don't want to cause any damage to either of them and i kind of remember someone saying you should not feed a higher powered head into a lower powered one,i tried to find the answer in search but couldn't, any help would be great thanks!

The preamp out should be fine going into the power amp in. Whay you are doing is essentially replacing the poweramp on the Sunn with the poweramp on the Fender, or the peamp on the Fender with the preamp of the Sunn.

Are you planning to run both cabs from the Fender? If so watch your impedance between the cabs; for example if the 212 is the same impedance as the 612 the two 12's will be getting the same power as the six 12's in the other cabinet.
