I use my ´74 Model-T with a Ampeg V-4 4x12. Pretty much bottom and dry sound. Nice cab, even with bass it stands straight.  but depends on taste.

Hmm, doesn't sound like what I want, but I appreciate any posts of advice so cheers.

I've been considering a few cabs...

Sound City 412... An old one, because I heard that can handle the power of the Model T.

Marshall Mode Four 280w 412. Yeah I know the Mode Four head is a pile od crap but I've read goos things about the cabs.

Mesa Boogie Rectifier 280w 412. The most expensive... I might treat myself...

I live in the UK, so bare that in mind before you suggest a great cab that I can't get in the UK :-(

Thanks!

maybe you should try to find a old orange or hiwatt cab as you are from the uk. my v-4 cab has 280 watts.

This may sound a little weird, but the best sounding 4x12 that I have ever used with a Model T...

was a Fender Bassman 100 cabinet.  :o

I replaced the stock speakers with some better suited for guitar use (I used EV's).  The low end thump, overall louder sound and better dispersion of highs (due to the angle of each speaker) can't be beat by any square arrangement 4x12 on the market.

The disadvantage... it is big and heavy.

Thanks for the help guys... I think I'm getting a no name 412 with Hanes speakers in it. £200 - nice price.

hello, this may sound unorthodox, but we usually play those model t's on
15" speakers, like old kustom 2x15 or 3x15 cabs (aren't these altec lansing?), jbl d130f (like in the old fender dual showman 2x15 cab $$$$) sounds extra loud as these speakers are extremely efficient (more db, less heat conversion) and have great tone too! also very efficient and great tone, but cheaper: celestion kt-200 speaker. with those 15" speakers the amp has a deeper bottom end, but especially a deeper 'growl' so to speak (more low-mid, around 250 hz), without losing the high definition and mid bite (somewhere between 500 and 1000 hz), those jbl's were originally used by surf guitarists (dick dale modeled it!) who wanted sharp high for their staccatos and deep low for their twanging reverberation. sunn sounds great too on those big speakers, randy holden from population II was using
those 2x15 cabs as well and you can hear it on the cd. cheers!
