What section filter cap?
« on: February 28, 2002, 09:04:00 pm »
I tried to get the Filter from Antique Electronics in Tempe Az. They only have a
20-20-20-20 mfd 475v unit. And will not be making the 30-20-20-20 mfd 525v as seen in the Solarus schematic for some time.
Can I substitute the 475v unit without smoking the rest of the amp or just keep trying other sources for the drop-in unit.
Or just go ahead and wire descrete caps on a strip onto the chassis.
Thanks,
Mike

B+ on my Sentura I is 488V. I decided against a 475V cap can. I'm going with some board-mounted Sprague Atoms. 600V.

AES has been working on some of these caps since last fall. Don't know how long it is going to be.

I have had very good luck using the  40/40/40 @ 525V Can caps, and then wiring in a single cap for the other. You can get the 40/40/40's at http://www.Fliptops.com  good luck, and let me know how you make out   Bill
