Dead beta lead

Hi, I have a beta lead (212) that is dead now, one channel worked and the other not. I tried the pre amp output to another amp but no noise but I could hear the scrach from the pots, (wierd,) is there something to check that allways goes out on this model amp? I know is dose not run very cool with out any fins or a fan. This is a buddy's amp and need to get it working again. Thanks Jimbo

Well gee Jimbo, from that description it could be... just about anything.  

Does one channel work now (and which one)... or was it only "half broken" before and now it is totally broken?

sorry for being too vauge about the problem, yes, it it totally dead now, the leds light up when you turn it on but thats it. one of the channels worked but also quit. No sound out of the preamp when patched to another amp. Thanks for any help you can give.  Jimbo
