OK, the cabinet I'm working on seems weirder and weirder. The baffle board is not plywood but particle board. The more I delve into this speaker the more I think I should have passed on it and just had someone make me a clone from scratch. Oh well. It does sound pretty good and I guess that's what counts.

I've never seen particle board on a Sunn cabinet. It might have been used in the 80's when Sunn cabs were made in Alabama or Mississippi.

Hm, that's what I figured. OK, this cab is getting loaded up with a K140-16 and D140-16 and hitting Craigslist. I'm going to concentrate on my other 200S that's in better shape and doesn't have any weird "features."

I know of at least one SUNN cabinet that did use particle board construction.  I have a 410SR vintage 1970 (listed in the 1970 catalog) that I restored completely a few years ago due to water damage from a flooded basement. The 410SR cabs are triangular PA cabs that buckle together to become one unit for transport.  I attached a couple of pictures taken during that restoration project.

They were 5/8" high-density particle board.
