which model 2x15 goes with a 2000s?
« on: July 07, 2002, 09:33:00 pm »
howdy! just wondering which model 2x15 cab is supposed to be used with a 2000s. i have seen some nice looking 2x15's (the BH, 215s, etc) on ebay, but they are rated at 4 ohms and are only about 25 inches wide. the 2000s, however, is rated at 8 ohms and is 30 inches wide. if anyone knows which cab it is, specifically, i would appreciate a post. also, if anyone knows where to get some of those metal corners for a sunn head, i would additionally appreciate a point in the right direction. thanx.

Hi Timber,
I own the Sunn 2000S head and cabinet set. The cab that I have is a model 215BH. It is 8 ohm and is huge and heavy. Stands about 48" high 20" deep and 28" or 30" wide. The speakers are rear loaded on a slanted baffle board. I have been trying for years to find another one like it, but no luck so far. I believe you can change the 4 ohms to 8 ohms by wiring the speakers in series. Is there someone out there that knows for sure and how to do it?

Two speakers wired in parallel to produce 4 ohms will produce 16 ohms when wired in series.  This is because the impedance of each speaker is 8 ohms.
