Sunn model T first gen.
« on: May 08, 2014, 03:59:52 am »
Hi guys

I'm trying to replace the power transformer on a gen 1 model T, but the schematic I found online has almost no detail of the specification for the PT. I have seen that Mercury Magnetics does a 'drop in' PT but it is quite expensive and they don't give any of the specs either.

Does anyone know what the PT specs for the model T are, and if there are any less expensive options than Mercury, e.g. from Hammond or Triode etc?

I don't know of a less expensive option, but I do know that Mercury makes a quality product. They certainly aren't cheap though!

Maybe contact Hammond?

Comparing the original to the Mercury clone, I actually prefer the Mercury. For all of the hassle of tracking down a worthwhile NOS PT, it is worth the investment to go with Mercury.

I can't provide much more than vouching for the quality, but if a thumbs-up helps, here are two!
