Beta bass and 215b bottom
« on: July 20, 2002, 11:08:00 pm »
Two questions I have a Sunn Beta Bass head serial number K01154 and sunn 215b bottom serial number 02624 can you tell me how old it is and what it is worth and the second question is the head kicks and goes in to a loud hum and no music goes through the bottom sometimes after a while of rest the amp will play again.  It is getting progressively worse.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  Archer

Hello Archer:
Sounds like broken solder joints at the filter caps on the poweramp board (20-0135 or 20-0166). Be sure to use RTV to stick them to each other and to the board. The early amps used hot melt glue and it would break away after a while. Most intermittant problems can be traced to bad connections or broken solder joints.

If it's too loud, you're too old.
