Newbie cabinet identification question
« on: November 22, 2014, 07:25:05 pm »
Hello everyone! New member here.

I recently acquired a 2x15 Sunn cabinet but I'm having some issues identifying both the cabinet and speakers inside of it. I took some pictures for you guys. Obviously, it's a bit of a mess as the tolex was torn and I decided to just take it all off.

I took some pictures in hopes of one of you Sunn experts could help me out.

All I can find for identification are some numbers on the speakers; I couldn't find a serial number anywhere on the cabinet itself. It had black tolex, one handle on the side and casters.

Here's a link with images, since I couldn't rename files on my phone: http://imgur.com/a/VWx2w

Thank you for your help!

It looks like a Sunn 200S cabinet made before mid 1969 with Eminence speakers made mid 1982.

FWIW in my opinion, and not surprisingly, 'thud is dead on. Put a nice pair of JBL D or K 140's in that old box and rock on!

I agree, although the cabinet could also be a Sentura II or even a Spectrum II. Those cabinets were the same except that the drivers were Sunn D15S drivers (rebadged JBL D130 drivers) rather than D140 bass drivers. However, I think there were a lot more 200S cabinets made.

Very nice.  Congrats on the buy.  I picked up a 200S cab about a year newer than yours about a year ago.  It had the original JBL D140's and they do sound great in that cab.
