How to open 1X15 cab?
« on: April 25, 2001, 05:56:00 am »
I know some of you will think I'm either nuts or stupid, or both.

I just bought a '60s 1X15" speaker cabinet through the mail. I thought there would be a series of screws around the perimeter of the back panel like my Fender, but nothing! The four chrome corner caps barely cover the corners of the back panel. Surely these aren't all that holds it on. I don't want to start prying on the grill cloth for fear of tearing it.

The tolex appears to be original, I really don't think the amp's been re-covered. How the heck do you get into this box?

Thanksfor the help.

take a butter knife and pry the grill framing from the front. it should be secured by a wierd primative velcro. you should now see the retaining bolts around the rim of the speaker. remove the speaker to gain access in to the cab
