when did sunn start and end the solarus model?
also,my one is a solid state pre amp.was this
always the case or only in later models?
is checking the pots the only way to date it?

You may determine the date of manufacture by removing the chasis from the tolex covered case.  The month and year is indicated on the inside of the chasis.  If the Solarus was manufactured in the late '60's, the circuit board you see was for the tremelo circuit only and not what would be considered the preamp.

thanks so much for answering.
honestly,my jaw hit the floor when
i saw it was you answering.
may i say this amp rips!
i play loud  rock and roll.
i did replace the 6550s with el34s
so the amp would distort faster at
lower volume.sunn rules!
i did not remove the chasis
because my backplate is missing
and i could see into the amp.
what i saw was a metal tube like
device with 525w.v.;
what appeared to be the word dynaco;
and at the bottom 7122.
is this 1971 and week 22?
if so,is my solarus a solid state pre-amp?
were there sunn amps that were completely tube driven?
