sunn 1200s, 2000s 220v convertion

Hi.
Just wondered if any of you would know if it's possible to convert 1200s and/or 2000s (or any other sunn amp..) from 110v to 220v. Is it possible to convert the transformer (like old ampeg's) or do you have to get a new one, for 220v. If you have to get a new one, do any know from where?
(Asking all of this is caused by the fact that i'm living in europe,no 110v over here...)

Hello,

I just looked at my 1200S and it has the dual primary transformer which is what is shown on the 2000S schematic (also Model T). There is nothing to indicate that the transformer was designed for 50HZ however. Running the transformer on 50HZ will cause it to run hot if it wasn't designed for it. Don't try this at home, take it to a qualified technician. It's kind of a messy job because you have to eliminate the convenience outlet and the ground switch, then improvise a new place to connect all the wires.

All of the 40 and 60 watt tube type schematics I looked at didn't have the dual primary so you would be out of luck there. You'll probably have to get one custom wound. Search on Ebay for "Sunn Transformer". There is a guy on there selling replacements that may be able to help you out. It's probably a whole lot easier and cheaper to get an outboard stepdown transformer.

Hope this helps, good luck.
