I've read on Missippi Queen he used an old Sunn P.A. head cranked up full. Don't know about speaker cabs.

I have heard that Mountain used the 2000s.  I think i read it on Rich Briere's site.  ITS A VERY IN DEPTH LOOK AT SUNN HISTORY.

I don't think Leslie used Sunn, although Felix certainly did. Every time I've seen Leslie, with or without Mountain, he was stackin' it with Marshalls. I remember reading he used a Stramp amp for recording"Back in the Day." I think it was a little solid state job, cranked with his Les Paul Jr.

I saw mountain about a month ago and met Leslie after the show, I happened to be wearing a sunn shirt and one of the first things he said was that he used to use Sunn amps! also got Leslie and Corky to autograph my Gibson EB-1!!!!!

The use of the Coliseum PA head (tube) on Mississippiiiii Queen certainly gave Leslie that heavy thick midrange sound.  The tone controls, designed for PA/voice use push the crossover frequency up about an octave.
