Concert Lead questions...

Hi everyone, great forum!  I recently scored a Sunn Concert Lead head from a local used guitar store.  It appears to be a mid-70's model (silver face with black lettering, and the RCA style footswitch connectors).  I was wondering if it would be possible to run both channels at once, so that I have the choice of playing clean, reverb, or distortion without having to switch plugs?  Would it be possible to run the preamp output back into the input of the other channel, or would this just be a very quick way of destroying a vintage piece of equipment?  Also, was the footswitch that originally came with this amp the latching type or the momentary type?  Did the footswitches simply short the center pin of the RCA connector with the outer jacket?  Fender makes a reproduction footswitch with the RCA connectors, that can be seen here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=guitar/search/detail/base_pid/420716 Would this work?
