Concert bass crackle

Hi,

My concert bass amp is crackeling under 3 distinct situations:

1. If i hit any E on the bass, the note is followed by a fizzle / crackleing sound. Sounds like an electrical discharge.
2. As soon as I stop playing any passage that is over a couple of bars, regaurdless of what note i end on, I get the fizzleing crackle sound.
3. When the amp is idle, it will crackle for a second every 30 or so seconds.

I am wondering if this post on a Col. Bass. is the same basic prognosis:

Sounds to me as though you need a technician.
