power attenuator
« on: June 28, 2005, 09:56:43 pm »
i have a 75' model t with a 4x12 16 ohm cabinet and was wondering if these things are worth it. i need the heavy tube saturation and high gain but not the volume during our practices. i have heard the run your tubes out alot quicker which makes sense and also heard that they can kill your output transformer. if they are worth it, which one? i have heard marshalls are terrible. any input would be wonderful. thank you.

I've not heard of attenuators hurting amps, nor have I had any problem using my Power-Soak on either my Model T or my Sentura II. It is true, though, that the tubes will burn out more quickly. Not because of the attenuator itself, but because you're running the amp harder, which the attenuator makes possible.
