4 x 12 speakers
« on: December 21, 2001, 11:46:00 am »
I have an original 4 x 12  cab. I think around 71? It has Sunn speakers w/ the silver dust cap. Does anyone know what the speakers are (JBL?) and the wattage?

Thanks Sanford

They probably are JBL's. The wattage, based on the JBL D-120's that Sunn used, would be 500 watts @ 125 per speaker. Get hold of a drill and a screw driver bit and take the back off.

Correction: make that 400 watts @ 100 per.

Thanks Gene

I did take off the back, the speakers have very small maginets covered by a U shape piece of metal with a sticker that says SUNN. Theres no model number or anything else written on the speaker.

My concern is since the maginets are so small the wattage may be to low for my 1200s I know very little about speakers. But I do know my head seems to be pushing them pretty hard.

Thanks Sanford

Have the same cab - from '69.

The speakers are "Sunn Transducers," probably by Eminence.

Do some searches on this site and you will turn up several relevant posts.
