Sunn 2000S or Original Mod-T For Bass??
« on: December 04, 2000, 10:44:00 am »
Looking for opinions regarding using a Model-T for Bass. They seem to me more easily obtainable and usually in a bit better
shape than most 2000S units since they are not nearly as aged.
I was thinking about teaming it up with one of the newer Pro
series Ampeg 4-10 or 1-15 cabinet units,or a Mesa Diesel unit since the old Sunn/JBL D-140 units are nearly unobtainable, and I never cared much for the sound of the somewhat newer Sunn Magna bass cabinets.   Mod-T yes??? or should I hold out for a good 2000S?  Would there be quite a bit of differance ?Also what do you think of my Speaker choices teamed up with one of these Sunn units? What say you ,good people ???

The JBL d140 or d15 are one of the most effecient speakers ever made. The 2000s cab was superb but the 200s with the same speakers is even better. I know I had both for 27 years. I just offed my complete 2000s to a guy in Philly. I am finally changing over to a new rig after 27yrs. I had a 1200s top powering my (2) 200s cabs. along with a complete 2000s amp. I used a stereo rick. as it should be. The 2000s amp was for the bass channel and the 1200s with the two 200s cabs for the trebble. Now I am using the two 200s cabs for my bass channel with rack mount heads and they are over whelming. I will be scalling down on them also, sunn makes the finast cabs. as long as they have JBL D140's or JBL D15's. The D15's are the exact speaker as the D140 except it was marketed as the professional series. If you require durability as well as perfect responce from you're speakers SUNN is #1
