200S transformers
« on: September 17, 2005, 08:01:16 pm »
I purchaced a 66-67 200S on e-bay a while back and because of poor packing it was pertty well destroyed in transit but I would like to save it. The transformers broke loose and took out all tubes and sockets, I need to know if this year amp had the dynaco or schumacher transformers,I believe it is a 66-67 because the numbers are on the faceplate and not the knobs,If they are schumachers can dynacos be used as replacements.
Both transformers have been painted white so I cant see any markings on them.
Thanks !!!!!!

I would guess that it is probably the dynaco's. I don't think the Schumachers were put in until closer to the 70's, but I can find out for sure a little later and let you know. You should be able to use the dynaco's for replacement. The specs are the same as far as I know.

Ok, I found out for sure from an extremely reliable source that your amp would have had the Dynaco transformers in it. If you want a replacement, Angela Instruments sells the Dynaco, and you could do even better by getting a Magnequest from Triode Electronics. The Magnequest are expensive, but even better quality and sound than the original Dynacos. Hope that helps?
