70's Model T power supply
« on: January 21, 2006, 03:49:08 pm »
I have an old Model T that tends to blow a diode in the power supply. I have had it repaired a number of times and even fixed it myself. Always the same diode.  I've been told that this is not uncommon.

I don't have the diode p/n, just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem.

Thanks,
John

There are only three diodes in the Model T - one in the bias supply and the two that provide rectification.

I don't see anything that would lead me to think the design is prone to failure.  The PN for the rectifier diodes isn't familiar to me, I suppose it might be under-speced, but if that were the case it wouldn't be one that always gave up, either of them could.

I've never had any trouble with mine.
