Old equipment and components can be sold for whatever the buyer is willing to pay.
This statement sometimes sounds like a cop out, and even sometimes gets people p*ssed off, but IMO it says it all!
This ain't gold bullion we're talking about, and even that intensely monitored and documented, "stable" commodity fluctuates from any currently posted value between country to country, bank to bank, etc..
I have an original sonic II bottom bought new in 68-69 from Manny's in NYC with the original D-130F's still in it. Question...Are the raw speakers worth more than the whole cab on resale? From viewing this site, these are very desirable drivers, but the used cabs seem to vary all over the map. Unfortunately, I parted with the head years ago, so no complete unit. Just curious about the potential value.
eBay - The great equalizer, virtual destroyer of the unbelievably cheap "closet classic, under the bed, in the basement" deal.
Search completed auctions, and while it's no guarantee of how much cash you can covert your gear into, it will show you what other people have recently paid for similar items. I think you will find the D130's loose will maximize the potential $, as
JoeArthur points out, because of shipping costs on the loaded cab.
I personally think it's a sacrilege, but most people interested in your cab will probably intend to gut it for the JBL's anyway.
To be objective, average the sale prices out, don't fixate on the high priced ones (somebody probably
needed the D130's for a particular project/application and bid stupid high to get them) or be depressed by the low ones.
Uhmm... is there a dollar value you are looking to get for the cab with the speakers?
