I HAVE JUST JOINED TODAY..YOUR POST IS OLD...MY ANSWER IS CURRENT AS OF [ 03/2006] I HAVE OWNED A 1-18VH, FOR OVER 30 YEARS.  I BOUGHT IT WELL USED IN 1980. I PRESUME MINE IS AN EARLY 70'S MODEL, AS PROBABLY IS YOURS.  THEY WERE POWERED WITH AN 18" CERWIN VEGA, ORIGINALLY. ALTHOUGH RATHER HEAVY TO LOAD AND UNLOAD; THEY ARE TONE MONSTERS. I  CAN EVEN GET GOOD HIGHS OUT OF IT.
I HAVE ALWAYS POWERED MY 1974 ACOUSTIC 370 HEAD WITH MY
1-18VH, WITH GLORIOUS RESULTS. I ALSO STACKED A 4-12 GUITAR CAB ON IT, OCASSIONALLY. THEN I COULD HEAR THE HIGHS AND FEEL THE LOWS. I WOULD LOVE TO OWN ANOTHER, AS MY 370 IS RATED @4 OHMS AND REALISES IT'S FULLPOTENTIAL @ 2 OHMS; REQUIRING (2) 4 OHM CABS.
