Amp recommendation?
« on: June 01, 2006, 03:55:00 pm »
I wanted a guitar head that would be loud and most people I talked to suggested Sunn, I’ve heard some bands that have used sunn and I really like the sound.

My question is what would be the best model (I would like to go for a tube)? I'm looking for loud, raw, and heavy. Also what should I expect to pay?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Sounds like "most people" have pointed you in the right direction, Sunn gear is certainly loud and heavy (not sure about the raw). Price wise they are pretty much all over the place, but they have been sort of rising in the past few years. It should be pretty easy to figure out which one, they are pretty straight forward amps and only offered a few different basic circuits (albeit with many different and sometimes confusing names). Figure out what you want, and then watch eBay for a couple of weeks and you will kind of get a feel for the market.

I think you're looking for the original Model T - about a grand, and they are massive and toneful. Enjoy!!
