2000s w/out bass boost
« on: June 05, 2006, 02:32:50 pm »
I have a 2000s that does not have the bass boost switch on the front panel.  Would that date this piece prior to 1969?  All other aspects look right other than an extra red 'on' light on the panel that was obviously added over next to the standby/polarity/on-off switches.  The unit works killer and I am just curious about how to date it.
Sunn 2000S bass head with (2) 2x15 cabs with JBL speakers.  Fender Jazz bass Special is primary bass with a 61 Hofner Cavern Bass as backup.  Also have an Ampeg B-15n flip top amp as well.

I have an old four knob 1200S that has no switch. I modified the tone stack to be like a 2000S. The cap going to the volume control was a 0.1uF and I just left it that way. It's like having the bass boost on all the time. The cap values used in the 2000S with bass boost give you a gentle bass rolloff in the normal position and flat response to about 40Hz in the boost position. I'm curious to know what cap was used in the 2000S w/out the boost switch.
