Cabinet for coliseum lead

Hi, I have a coliseum lead and I had purchased a sunn 215B cabinet for it, but the first time I played loud through it, it blew both of the speakers, so I am now forced to buy another cabinet. Does anyone know if maybe the head was too powerful for that cabinet, and what I should look out for in my next cabinet before I purchase it, so it doesnt get blown as well? There is no impedance rating on the head (although I think that it is 8 ohms to each speaker out and 4 ohms to one speaker) but it says 500 watts on the back. Also, I am considering buying and ampeg svt 1540, so if anyone is familiar with that and could give me some information about if it would match my head, that would be great. Thanks alot.

it aint the cab-its the speakers that need replacing.
if i had to buy a new spkr cab everytime i fried a spkr i would be way broker than i yam.

Solid state amps, like your coliseum, don't have impedance. They run at whatever impedance the speaker load happens to be. Any cabinet will "match" your head. I think your amp is stable down to a 2 ohm load. If you run the impedance too low the amp, not the speakers, will fry.
The 500 watts refers to the maximum AC current draw, and has nothing to do with the amps output wattage. I think the Coliseum is rated at 120 watts with an 8 ohm load, 200 watts with a 4 ohm load, 300 watts with a 2 ohm load. The 215B  cabinet is either 4 or 8 ohm, so if you toasted the speakers you likely have something wrong with your amp, or somebody sold you a cab with burnt speakers to begin with.

Real amps; i.e. Vacuum tube output stage, need to be matched with the impedance of the speakers with a transformer.
