Early Smiley Head Pics

Since it is near impossible to ever find good photos of the original Sunn heads, I shot some. There are some close-ups of what the original "paisley" tolex really looked like and a close-up of the original Sunn badge/logo that was on the front of the heads. I'm also posting a shot of the transitional version of the head that had normal tolex and the later Sunn badge that most are familiar with (although as many know, these early versions lacked the (c) emblem and were actually a bit smaller than the ones that followed around 18 months later.)

OH!! And if anyone has a matching "paisley" tolex bottom that they'd sell or trade drop me an email...or at least post some pics!!

with all those amps, do you have them labeled so you know which is which?   like, you like this one better than that one tonaly.

Actually...it's more like if you're dating identical triplets...they may all look the same but you KNOW which one is the best from some freckle or dimple or giggle that other people don't notice. Ask any pro musician backstage which amp in his stacks is the better one and he will amost always be able to name it. Most amps usually have "personality."

yep,    just like a proud poppa can I.D. all his little babies.   i get it.   however, i need to label my stuff as i forget which is which just by looking at them.

Well....I DO label my bass and guitar cases. All of the regular  :mrgreen:  hardshell cases without stickers of dings in them tend to look the same and I have a chunk of duct tape on each labeled in black Sharpie.

Hey, great pictures of the early Sunn's.  Brings back found memories because I built these units myself.  For your information the paisly vinyl was really passenger seat vinyl for the old Pullman railroad cars.

Phew.  sundhy IS the "there"! (Sorry for the confusion, I don't check profiles very often!).

I like the creativity in stealing the vinyl from the railroad cars, shows great resourcefulness!
