Does anyone have an answer to my Col. Lead Cab questions?
« on: March 25, 2007, 01:48:58 am »
I have an old Sun Coliseum lead cabinet (actually 2 of em) with 4 12in Sunn speakers in each of them. Can anyone tell me the ohms associated with each of the cabs? I'd really appreciate it, as they are not marked anywhere on the exterior of the cabs nor within the cabs on the speakers themselves.

Thanks for reading,

Marcus

I'm guessing here, but I'd say 4 ohms. That way, two of them would get the maximum power from the amp.

However, it's not that difficult to find out. Find an ohmmeter, and measure the DC resistance. This will be less than the rated impedance, but not by a large amount. If the DC resistance is, say, 6.3 ohms, then consider it an 8 ohm cabinet. If it's more like 3.2, call it 4 ohms.
