Hey everyone,
I play a Gibson Les Paul Studio through a 2nd Gen Model T running through an Orange 4x12. Lately, I've been having feedback problems with my setup and i'm not really sure what's up. When plugging the guitar directly into the cab and playing through the normal channel, I get a high pitched whine that comes through when i play chords or sustain notes.
Here are my settings:
Master: 3 1/2
Presence: 4
Treble: 8
Mid: 4
Bass: 4 1/2
Channel Vol: 2
Also, the tone knobs on my guitar are turned all the way up. When I play through the amp with my Fender Tele, the squeal is still there but not nearly as bad....I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to dialing in tones, so I'm thinking that my settings might just be off and not well balanced enough. I play mainly lead stuff so I like my tone to be on the trebly side, and also a lot of dist...interestingly, when i plug into my modded DS-1 I get a lot more feedback than when I plug into the Brite channel and dial in my dist. I prefer the pedal though as it gives me pretty much the same sound and also allows me to switch back to clean for gigs.
My bridge pickup is also raised pretty high on my Gibson, so I was thinking maybe that could be contributing. Oh, and I also play my guitar on only the bridge pickup as it gets too muddy for my liking when I have both on.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and let me know what other info you need if this isn't enough to get a general idea
thanks!
