Sunn Bass Cabinet Reinforcements?

a good friend is selling a 215BH which i have tried to buy from her for quite some time now, but i know that the cabinet rattles badly at this point, and i wonder what if anything can be done to remedy this.....is it beyond repair or will a little tlc / elbow grease have it as good as new?  as loud as i would be playing through it the rattle really wouldn't be much of an issue but i feel it must be symptomatic of a serious problem and i am concerned that it may literally be shaking itself apart with continued use........any suggestions, or is my question as stupid as i fear it may be?

Must have been dropped at some point, Sunn cabinets are known for being tanks.

Take everything out and off, and examine the cabinet for loose pieces and joints. Sometimes just one loose pice can really make a racket.
Get some Elmers or other construction glue, squeeze it into every corner and joint, trying to work it into the joints with a small brush. You can dip the brush in water to help thin the glue and get it into the cracks, not too much, a little water. If you can, after working the glue into the joints, put a strap or something around the cabinet, pull it tight and let the whole thing sit undisturbed for a day or two, two better than one.
Check the front baffles for tightness, sometimes these can become loose and some glue and a screw or two tightens them right up. Check all the hardware on the outside, again, anything loose will buzz and make noises you don't want.

Take your time and you should be able to restor the cabinet to it's previous glory.

I build custom cabinets (kitchen) for a living, what i do with my bass cabs is take a construction adhesive a PL of somesort (PL 200, 400, etc, available at any hardware store) and use it as a caulking on the inside of the cabinet, you will need a caulking gun. lay a 1/4" bead in the corners, run your finger down the bead to smooth it out.  this pushes it into cracks and seals any air movement or leakage that is unwanted, also solidifies the cab.  put a ratchet strap around the cab and same thing, 2 days later a sealed, rigid cab.  re-attach back or front depending on cab and play.  no rattles, no whistles, how it's supposed to sound.
go for it, you can't wreck it.
