Anybody know how many ohms a sonic1 is?

looks like it has 2 speaker outs, does anybody know how many ohms the speaker outs are? (not marked) I want to use a 4ohm cab, any problems? Thanks.-J

The output transformer has taps for 16, 8 and 4 ohms. The two outputs are either one 8 ohm and one 4 ohm or one 16 ohm and one 8 ohm, depending on how they are wired to the OT taps.

Check the schmatics on this site, remove your chassis and check which color leads are connected to the jacks. If the 4 ohm tap is not connected, you can either rewire it for 8 and 4 or plan on getting a cabinet that is 8 ohms. I suggest going to the 8/4 taps. That way you can connect a 4 ohm cabinet, an 8 ohm cabinet or 2 - 8 ohm cabinets. You cannot connect a 4 ohm and an 8 ohm, when plugging in 2 cabinets, both jacks are connected to the 4 ohm tap.

Thanks for the help! Love this site. Growing up in seattle it is nice to see sunn getting much due respect. For me and a lot of my friends these were our first amps. Ready for purchace at your local pawn or friends dad's garage. Is it just me or are a lot of you trying to chase down the amp sound you first heard when you were learning to play? Even after owning marshall,hiwatt,matchless,fender amps I always seem to be happiest trying to get them to sound like a sunn with a cheap distortion pedal or a peavey butcher. Anyways, thanks.

I for one still use my Sunn 200S and 215 cabinet...but love my Nemesis with my Line 6 pedal. Perhaps the weight has something to do with it...but the Nemesis handles every sound, distortion, strange tones I put through it. At some point the Sunn seems to get blurry and everything sounds the same. Course 60 watts against 250 has tto be considered as well. Now the Nemesis through the 215 cabinet.....your pants flap.
