sunn 72 model t tubes
« on: July 03, 2008, 05:47:28 am »
Hi i was wondering if anyone could let me know the difference between 6550 tubes and the 5881 tubes. As i brought a set of tubes for my 72 model t and was sent a set of 5881 tubes i know i should not put them in. So could someone who knows about the technical side of amps let me know if its possible to put them in. thanks

Hi there, the 5881 is a military # for a 6L6GC,a heavy duty one,but still not a 6550.Don't plug them in,you'll burn them up and maybe damage the amp.You could reconfigure the circuit to make them work, but I think it would be a waste of time.Get some good quality 6550's and you'll be fine, good luck Mel.
