Model T Reissue: which price?
« on: July 22, 2008, 04:49:13 pm »
Hi, I am new to your scene here. I am not owning a sunn amp, but I was looking for one for a long time.
Now I got the possibility to get a Model T reissue. I would prefer a 70s model, cause I am using vintage gear for years now, but - as you know - especially in Europe old model t is hard to find.
Of course I don´t want to pay too much for the reissue. Can anyone here tell me how much it is worth?
For sure there may be some people selling their soul (or even more)...
What was the price for a new one, when Fender started the new model?
Would be nice to hear your opinion!

  Hi there,if you're are looking for a 1st generation Model T,(the silver faced one,not the one with red knobs),it is a totally different amp than the Fender/Sunn "reissue".The Fender model is called a 300 T I believe.The 1st,2nd(red knob)generations and the 300 T are all different.
As far as cost,I sold my 70's near mint Model T for $1700.00 CDN.plus shipping, hated to but had to.They are hard to find, anyone that has one really doesn't want to get rid of it.Good luck,Mel.

Thanks Mel,
the offer that I got is a Fender/Sunn Model T Reissue. I know that it is far away from any Sunn model from the 70s.
Now I don´t know how much it is worth. Should I pay more than 1900 US$ for the new one? I found no information about the Fender list prices of end nineties...
Perhaps I`ll save money and get an old Music Man HD 130 and get it angry with my fulltone driver.

Lately i have seen the reissues going for around $900 on ebay.  I got my reissue model T from a guy on harmony central for $400 last january.  They're cool amps but more like a fender amp than the vintage sunn model t.  I've got a 76 red knob model T and it's got way more balls and punch to it than the fender issue T. But I believe that if you hold out long enough and you're looking in the right places (ie. harmony central, craigslist) you can still get a good deal on these amps.
