Which Ampeg cab is louder with the Sunn Concert Bass ?

First of all, I want to say that this is a nice forum - internet put to good use...

So, I have a Sunn Concert Bass head from 1972. I am going to have to choose between an early 70's Ampeg 810 fridge cabinet and a mid 80's Ampeg 8x10 cab. Maybe this question would do better in an Ampeg forum, but those guys don't know Sunn like you do, so...which of these cabs would be louder with my head? I should probably upgrade to a Coliseum...I know.

That's an interesting question, and you'd get the best answer on an Ampeg forum.  I suspect either one would sound good.  Go to http://www.ampage.org/ and you should find a suitable discussion group.

All I know for sure is that my 1974 Coliseum 880 sounds great (and loud) through my 2004 SVT-810E.

  Hi there,I've used both and they both sound great to me.The only thing I see that would make a difference would be the condition/age of the drivers and whether or not they (Ampeg),changed the 10's to a higher sensitivity driver.Maybe it's just me,but I tend to lean towards the older cabs.Good luck,Mel.
