Hi,

it takes 5 tau to get it discharged....well, better use a resistor, here is a rule of thump:

R (Ohm) x C (Farad)= ½ dischagetime

A 10 or 20 Ohm resistor can do the job.  Check the rest voltage!!! Have a look at wikipedia for the schematics aswell! Be shure that you disconnected the amp!

Please be very careful what you are doing! If I where you I would better visit a tech and watch what he is doing!

Greetings

I'm not sure I see the issue here.  I assume by "clean the amp" you just wanna clean up the chassis/cabinet etc.  So you're thinking about taking the amp out of the cabinet naturally.  If that's right I wouldn't get too worried because the amp does not hold a charge as such, its the capacitors in the amp that hold a charge.  The way you're gonna die with a tube amp is by bridging a filter cap.  If you just wanna do some external cleaning go ahead but just stay away from the stuff inside the amp.
