Model 4 PA cabs for guitar???
« on: March 31, 2010, 02:12:06 pm »
I found a very nice pair of these cabs at a pawn shop pretty cheap & was wondering if they would make decent guitar cabs? I didn't know if they could handle low tuning & High watts? I haven't bought them but if they would work I probably will.

Thanks!

I wouldn't use them for guitar cabinets myself. I'm a fan of 12" speakers for guitar cabs. Those 10" speakers in there might push some keyboards or synths well tho.

Thanks for the reply :-D I was thinking they were 12's but yeah, I'll pass since they're 10's but if I still had my jam room man oh man I'd snatch them up fo sho & run all my misc stuff through them.

I have a pair of model 2 cabinets (2X10's) that are 16 ohms each.
I have run my Solarus head thru them and can tell you that they sound pretty good IMO,  but very bright (too bright for my taste, but that's just me).   I sometimes hook ONE of the Model 2's with the  open back 2X12 cab (I have a Hellatone 30 and a Hellatone 60 in that cab).  With the tone knobs set a little to the "Base heavy" side the brightness of the Model 2 cab seems to be somewhat counterbalanced and the effect is a sort of interesting combo of  Dark, heavy lows and bright mids and highs.  (Just my $ .02 )
But we're talking about sound/tone here.  That's too subjective to take any one's word for it really.  If there's any chance at all to listen before you buy,  do that.
