Sunn 610L 6 ohms with Reissue Model T 4, 8 or 16 ohms HELP
« on: January 13, 2010, 12:38:24 pm »
Hello, first post but long time reader. I am looking at picking up a Sunn 610L for a good price but Im not sure if I will be able to use it. I have a reissue Model T which has options for 4, 8 and 16 ohms but the cab runs at 6 ohms. I have heard that running the amp lower then the load for the cab is ok in this situation, but does anyone actually know? What series were these cabs for, 6 ohms just seems odd it makes sense with 4 ohm speakers but still a little odd. Right now Im using a 412L at 8 ohms, if possible I would like a way to use either one or both at the same time.  Any help would be great, I still may pick up the cab if I can find a way to use it in the future but I want to use it asap.

Impedance is not exact. I think you'd be fine on either 4 or 8 ohms with the 610L.

You could use both. I used to have a reissue. I ran a 8 ohm 4x12 and a 610l at 6ohms. if you ran both it would be 3.42 ohms. So you could run both at the 4 ohms setting. Hope that helps.

So thats sweet but what if I wanted to use just the 6x10, anyway to do that without risk of damage to my amp. I mean Im not going to want to often but it would be nice to hear how just the 6x10 sounds. Ive used a 4x10 which I liked so Im thinking the 6x10 will be pretty bad ass. Looking forward to getting it next weekend. Thanks for the help out there.

Any advice on whether it would be better to set the head at 4 or 6 ohms?

You have a head that can be set to 6 ohms?

Oops sorry about the misprint, I meant 4 or 8 Ohms. If I could set it to 6 I wouldn't have any issues. Thanks again
