Update on my Sunn Stagemaster Combo
« on: March 12, 2010, 01:57:25 pm »
I just installed some old square magnet backed speakers from an old Peavey 2x12 cabinet I have. I'm not sure what brand or model speaker they are. I assume they may be Eminence, but I ca't be sure. Anyway, they sound really good with this amp, as they have a nice bottom end and a good crunch for distortion and fuzz sounds. I do notice that the high gain channel is not as loud as the low gain channel, so I'll most likely need to have a tech take a closer look at the components to see if anything has drifted in value or needs to be replaced. Overall, I'm thrilled to have my first Sunn amp!

Have you recorded any clips yet? If I get time, I'm going over to pick up my Sunn 412 today!

Not yet, but I'll try and get something posted on there soon. I don't own a video camera yet, but I'm going to either borrow one from a friend this weekend or try using the video option on on digital camera and see how that turns out.

Good luck with the Sunn cab. I'd love to see some pics of it when you get it! I just picked up an old Peavey MS 4x12 with the metal screen grill and front mounted speakers this past Sunday. The cab sounds huge with my Rocker 30!

I wasn't able to get it today, so hopefully tomorrow, I'd like to have it at band practice tomorrow night. I negotiated the price and we are in agreement, so things look good!

Nice collection you're getting there! I also have a Marshall DSL100 in addition to my Rockerverb 100, it's up for sale or trade on CL right now though, the Marshall just doesn't suite me anymore. After Orange and Sunn, only a Matamp or Electric would be a nice addition to my collection.

Cool! Glad to hear the deal for the Sunn cab is looking good.

Thanks man! I used to own two JCM 800 2204s, one 1976 JMP 50 watt non master head and one 1987X Plexi modded by Mark Cameron for the Doug Aldrich gain mod. I also owned 2 1960 Marshall cabs, but sold all my Marshall stuff when I bought the Orange Rocker 30, as it defined the tone I was looking for all along. Other than getting the Sunn Stagemaster and Peavey MS 4x12 recently, it looks like I will be picking up a Peavey VTM 120 head this Saturday. I can't wait to get it! My collection is growing soon after it shrunk for a while back there.  I'm also down to two guitars: '93 Gibson Les Paul Studio w/ Seymour Duncan JB & '59 pickups and a Tokai Love Rock w/ Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups. Both guitars sound awesome! :-D
